Katchiwano Golf & Country Club
The Katchiwano Golf & Country Club is located 15 minutes from Burleigh Island Lodge just 3 miles north of Lakefield.
Hilly terrain, narrow fairways, challenging greens and breath taking scenery has made the Katchiwano Golf and Country Club a local golfing hot spot for 35 years. Although at first glance the course may be intimidating with its elevated tees and dense wooded areas, golfers who take notice of club selection and shot control are bound to be rewarded as the course is narrow.
Katchiwanos Signature Hole
Katchiwanos signature hole is the 266 yard 2nd, a short par 4 that will test your ability to place the ball. The hole plays from a very high elevated tee over a large pond into a tiny but relatively flat green. Whatever you do, don’t let the picturesque view distract you from the task at hand. The 2nd is definitely a hole where a good tee shot is crucial. From the tee golfers that stay to the left and clear the water can easily achieve par however straying to the right is likely to result in at least a bogey as the green is guarded on this side by a large tree.

Marvel Rapids Golf Course
20 minutes north of Burleigh Island Lodge in Apsley, Ontario
Picturesque and challenging, Marvel Rapids is a new 9 hole course that opened June 1, 2000 in Apsley, Ontario. It is built on a century old farm with the first tee-shot framed by a historical blacksmith shop and barn.
Designed by owners Helen, Gord and Doug Osborne, it is situated on 264 acres of rolling meadows and mature woodlands. Eels Creek winds its way through the course enroute to Stoney Lake and encompasses a series of rapids cascading over Pre-Cambrian outcroppings. Marvel Rapids is located in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes region just north of Burleigh Island Lodge in Apsley, Ontario, the mineral capital of Canada.
Signature Hole at Marvel Rapids Golf Course
The signature hole is a 135 yard elevated tee-shot over the rushing rapids of Eels Creek. This par 3 fourth hole is challenging, beautiful and dramatic.
The par 4, third hole is a 454 yard ball-breaker that requires a precise and powerful tee-shot to set up for the second shot at a green tightly surrounded by trees.
For sheer challenge and reward nothing can top the 223 yard 7th hole, located at the highest pint on the property. This long par 3 reminds you to be nothing short of accurate to avoid the rock outcropping on the left side of the green.

Tamarac Golf & Country Club

THE GOLF COURSE
Tamarac Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1962 as a 9 hole course. the Anorini family purchased the course in 1967 and over the years has constantly strived to upgrade and improve the golf course conditions. With almost forty years of hard work and dedication the Amorini family welcomes you to the beautiful hamlet of Ennismore in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes region.
Tamarac Golf and Country Club constantly strives to improve the course to offer our guests an exceptional round of golf. Some strategy is required to maneuver through the 6425-yard (blue) championship course.
A well maintained layout with the best greens in the Kawartha’s. The front nine offers two Par 3’s on #2 and #4. Two dog legs left on #6 and #7. You can work your way through many water hazards and bunkers on the front to get you to use all your clubs in your bag. The front nine finishes up with our long #9 – 540 yard Par 5 to a tight elevated green.
The best features of the back nine is how it starts and finishes. It starts with #10 being a long 570 yard Par 5 and is ranked as our toughest hole on the course. Take your tee shot and keep it to the middle of the fairway and set up your second shot and keep it to the right of the pond . Try to get over the creek and hit into a large tiered green tucked in around to the left.
Hole #12 is known lovingly as Cardiac Hill, 350 yards - Par 4 straight uphill to a beautiful large 2 tiered green.
Signature Hole Tamarac Golf & Country Club
#14 our Signature hole is a dog leg left- 346 yards to a large green surrounded by water on two sides. #17 is a great opportunity to birdie this Par 3, 167- yard hole. Your chance for a big finish is with your tee shot on #18 with a long 440 Yards-Par 4 heading back towards the Clubhouse. Try to get over the creek and your second shot can give you another shot at birdie as you hit into our large two tiered green.
